About Us
Background
LOGIC (Leading Oil and Gas Industry Competitiveness) was created in 1999 by the Government's Oil and Gas Industry Task Force to improve competitiveness in the UKCS by targeting efficiencies in the supply chain.
With initial funding from the DTI and the industry, LOGIC was the vehicle used for delivering workshops and seminars on supply chain management, in-company assessments, share fairs and collaboration on logistics, as well as managing a number of cross-industry projects such as Vantage POB, the Master Deed, Industry Mutual Hold Harmless Deeds and Industry Standard Contracts.
LOGIC is now a not-for-profit, wholly-owned subsidiary of Oil & Gas UK. LOGIC owns the "intellectual property rights" to the cross-industry projects mentioned above and acts as their custodian to preserve their unfettered availability, and to promote and develop their use to improve industry practice.
Cross-Industry Projects
Vantage POB – The Vantage POB system was developed in 2003 by twelve UK oil and gas companies to provide a personnel-tracking system supporting UK 'best practice' in offshore personnel logistics. The project was pioneering in many ways, particularly in achieving cross-industry collaboration and funding, and delivering a large-scale Internet enabled system. Today it is used by over 35 leading oil companies in the UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Angola, Indonesia, Nigeria and Trinidad.
Master Deed – introduced in 2003 to streamline asset trading in the North Sea.
Industry Mutual Hold Harmless (IMHH) - establishes a contractual relationship between different companies working together, which means that, in the event of an accident or damage to property, each company will be responsible for its own, avoiding complex litigation procedures involving claims and counter claims.
UK Flightshare – A flight sharing agreement and Aviation Mutual Hold Harmless. Along similar lines to the Industry Mutual Hold Harmless but between operators, contractors and helicopter companies, enabling helicopter sharing.
Industry Standard Contracts – available electronically to cover a broad range of operations in the UKCS, and widely used across the contracting community when tendering for new work.
