Well Decision Navigator

A platform for joint industry knowledge sharing, and supply chain access

In June 1999 a joint industry group was established under CRINE with the objective of 'Doubling the Value of Development Wells'. This group moved under the umbrella of LOGIC in December 99.

The Development Well Group completed their work in March 2000 and delivered their output in the form of the beta version of a decision support tool called 'Well Decision Navigator' (WDN).

WDN provides a framework for capturing the key questions which need to be asked when planning wells. Additionally WDN has the capability of accessing the right supply chain resources at the right point in the decision process.

WDN is not a risk-based decision modelling package, but an experience and lessons-learned capture tool. Evaluation of the concept by 15 companies in two workshops held in Aberdeen in April generated extremely positive responses. LOGIC now propose to take WDN forward as a joint industry project.

The project launch is planned for 8-9 June at the LOGIC conference in Aberdeen.

In the longer term the concept is that the tool will develop as "shareware" under the auspices of LOGIC's not-for-profit enabling role.

Further information regarding the project is contained within the WDN Acrobat File.
