What is Vantage POB?

Vantage POB is a service used by Oil and Gas operators and contractors in the UK, Azerbaijan, UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Nigeria and Trinidad for personnel and certification tracking at onshore and offshore installations.

The Vantage POB system can be accessed via the internet or via a secure network and enables operators to:

  • Manages the personnel details of Oil & Gas workers.  Provides Emergency Response functionality.
     
  • Tracks personnel to and from worksites.
     
  • Ensures that personnel at worksites have the required medicals and competencies for the location, and also for travel to the location.
     
  • Manages the transport of personnel to and from sites.
     
  • Enables the sharing of transport between the Oil & Gas operators.
     
  • Provides facilities to manage the personnel at a site e.g. muster points, and lifeboat allocation.

Vantage can also be deployed as a stand-alone POB solution.


The Vantage POB UKCS Service is a fully managed service which:

  • Manages all aspects of the day-to-day running of a global system.

  • Provides the Roadmap for the future expansion of Vantage POB (location, commercial, and functional aspects).

  • Manages all contracts, financial and administrative activities required to run the service.

  • Manages all aspects of Change Control, releases and upgrades.

  • Manages all aspects of communication

  • Provides helpdesk support to all users of the system.

  • Provides System Administration support to all companies using Vantage POB

  • Enables contractor and service companies to verify that the information held on their employees is correct

  • Is run by the industry on a not for profit basis
     

Who Uses Vantage POB?

Following the success of the service in the UKCS, some operators, including BP and Shell, have migrated overseas businesses to the service with the effect of reducing costs per trip for all participants.

  • Vantage tracks over 70,000 personnel movements per month to over 550 locations
     
  • Over 3,200 registered users.
     
  • More than 350 concurrently use the Vantage service every hour

What’s Happening

During the past two years we have focussed on expanding the user base and consolidating the system. This has involved a major hardware and system software upgrade to provide future-proof scalability and reliability.

During 2007 there are a number of initiatives which will be reviewed for expanding the system. The details below provide some indication of the activities proposed for 2007. The list is not exhaustive:

  1. Vantage Central Register – OPITO use the Vantage POB database to mange approved training certificates.
  2. Personnel Scheduling and Competency Management e.g. Bed Planning, links with Planning systems, Management of Safety case competencies.
  3. E-Confirm – to allow passengers to see their past and future trips
