VANTAGE CHARTER

A Code of Practice has been developed which will ensure the system cannot be used for purpose other than intended (e.g. commercial gain or blacklisting). A particular aspect of this code is that the Vantage system exists primarily to enhance safety.

The Vantage Charter outlines what you can expect from the companies and individuals who access the Vantage system.
Users will ensure that:

  • They do not compromise the system's aim of promoting safe working
  • They do not use the system to give an unfair commercial advantage to one group, company or organisation over another
  • Changes made to the system or in the way it is used will be made only after appropriate consultation with the workforce
  • No financial value or credit facility shall be assigned to the Vantage smart card
  • They can only see data on people intending to work on their installations or their own employees
  • All personal information held on the system can be seen by the named holder

DATA PROTECTION ACT

Vantage recognises the impact of recent revision to the legislation and that it satisfies the requirements.

It should be noted that: -

  • No additional information is held in Vantage above that which is held already by the Operator or Employer
  • No judgemental information (disciplinary, religious, social, political etc.) is held in the system
  • No data is held which records union membership
  • No data is held which records accidents or incidents in which an individual may have been involved.
  • All information can be viewed on request, or key aspects viewed by a card-swipe.
